Elisabeth Cauley

Head of Schools

Elisabeth is a former public school teacher and a mom of three—a son and two daughters. She and her husband, Chris, founded the Highlands Latin Cottage School in Anderson, South Carolina in 2018 in order for other families to benefit from the classical, Christian, and traditional values and support provided by a local Highlands Latin School. As a veteran teacher, Elisabeth oversees the faculty and works closely with Memoria Press and the Classical Latin School Association for curriculum implementation, as well as consults with other administrators across the country who are looking to open HLS model schools. She holds a B.A. from Clemson University in Early Childhood Education.

Letty Poppleton

Greenville Campus Director

Letty has been a part of HLS since 2019, appreciating the accountability, structure and support the Cottage School model provides for her four boys and two girls. Letty started as a parent, joined the HLS faculty the following year as a Latin teacher, and served as the Grammar School Lead Teacher and Parent Liaison in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In the Spring of 2023, Letty agreed to help Elisabeth open a sister campus in Greenville where she will serve as the Campus Director. She has spent the past year working closely with Elisabeth to learn all aspects of Cottage School Administration and is thrilled to help bring this model to the Greenville  community. She holds a B.A. in Spanish for International Relations from the Catholic University of America.

Josie Stamps

Admissions Coordinator

Josie has been a part of HLS Anderson since its inception. She is a homeschooling mother of four boys and a girl, ages 16 to 6. She was informally exposed to the riches of a classical education from her earliest years through the matriarchs in her family: her mother, grandmother, and great-aunt. Early in her homeschool  endeavors, Josie found Memoria Press and has been utilizing it in her home for more than a decade. She has taught Latin, literature, classical studies, composition, and math and most recently served as the head of school at the Highlands Latin Cottage School in Shawnee, Oklahoma before returning to Anderson as our  Admissions Coordinator. She holds a B.S. in Agricultural Business and Economics and a minor in Finance from Auburn University.
