Megan Ryan
Co-Director

Megan believes inspiring the next generation to a lifelong pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty is one of life’s greatest callings. In her experience, homeschooling with a Classical Christian curriculum and a traditional classroom setting is a most effective way to educate.

In addition to founding and teaching at HLS Longmont, Megan has taught elementary students in public schools for eight years, and has recently been homeschooling her children. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University Honors College in Jupiter, FL where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Megan was born and raised on the island of Nassau in The Bahamas. She immigrated to the U.S. at eighteen to pursue her education and is honored to live in this country. Megan humbly embraces the calling of being the image of Christ to those around her.  She loves reading great stories, learning about other cultures and looks forward to spending time on the water with her husband and children during the summer.

Joseph Ryan
Board President

Joseph has over fifteen years experience as an entrepreneur and has founded several successful technology startups. Through his leadership, these companies have developed, launched, and scaled many products currently used by Fortune 100 companies, government organizations, and small businesses. He received a BS in Molecular Biology from Palm Beach Atlantic University and has been granted several patents for his inventions. Joseph is a proud husband and father of two children. He has a passion for learning and helping others replace their faith in the dogmas of modern intellectualism with Truth. He views a classical liberal education grounded in the Christian faith as the greatest gift we can leave the next generation and the surest path to a good and flourishing life.

Julie Woods
Co-Director

Julie graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in education. Over the years she has taught in both public and private schools, and has spent several years at home raising her three boys.

Her family moved to Longmont, Colorado to plant a church in 2017. Julie works alongside her husband, Philip, as he pastors The Well Longmont. Their mission is to proclaim the gospel and make disciples.

Julie has a passion for helping others learn to delight in God and the beauty of the gospel. She loves that classical education can equip students to do both as they learn to study God’s word, read great books, and grow in wonder of God and His creation in all of their studies. Julie is passionate about the pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness. She is thrilled to be a part of the team launching Highlands Latin School Longmont!

Philip Woods
Board Member & Teacher

Philip graduated from Northeastern State University with a degree in education.  After teaching in the public schools for six years, he went back to school at Dallas Theological Seminary and transitioned careers to serve in the local church.  In 2017, Philip and his family moved to Longmont, CO and planted The Well Church in 2018, where he pastors today.

Philip has been joyfully married to his wife Julie since 2004.  They have three boys, all attending HLS.  As much as Philip loves the outdoors, he loves coaching his boys’ sports even more.  Watching their development is a huge joy for him.  His greatest desire as a dad is to see his boys mature into men who love Jesus deeply.

Philip is passionate about seeing the gospel transform lives.  His desire is to see people come to know the magnificence of Jesus Christ through the local church as it engages with the community.  His hope is to see The Well become a church that plants new churches so that good news of Jesus Christ can continue to spread.
