Admissions

We invite you to apply and join our community of families striving to grow in knowledge, wisdom, and love of the Lord.

Apply Today

We are honored and excited that you would consider joining us at Highlands Latin School Charleston!

Our application is linked on our website during enrollment season (early January through mid-February for new families). After current families have had the opportunity to re-enroll, applications from new families are reviewed, and parents are invited to bring their children to school for interviews and assessments. Offers of admission are made in March. Students entering grades 4-12 complete the admission process by taking the Classic Learning Test in April. We do not offer scholarships, but HLS is an ESTF service provider. Please see our Tuition page for more information.

In order for your application to be fully processed, please walk through the following steps:

  1. Attend an open house to attend morning chapel, visit classrooms, browse curriculum, and ask questions.
  2. Apply January 1 – February 13 and submit the application fee here.
  3. Come for an interview and assessment: February 16 – March 2.
  4. Receive an admission decision by March 6th.
  5. Reserve your spot by paying your registration fee by March 20th.
  6. Students entering grades 4 and above come for Classic Learning Test (CLT) administration on April 10th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Make-up date is April 17th.) Please click here to learn more about the CLT exam.

Please note that Highlands Latin Cottage School Charleston is an approved Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF) service provider under the South Carolina Department of Education. Therefore, families who apply in the 2026-2027 ESTF program and are approved can use their funds to pay for tuition and fees at HLS. We have a few ESTF participants at Highland this year, and we are happy to report that the program is working smoothly both in terms of processing tuition payments and in terms of allowing homeschool families freedom and access to the book and supply vendors that we as homeschool parents already know and love. Applications for the ESTF program opens on January 15th for new families of priority students and on February 9th for all others. Students in the 2026-2027 ESTF program will receive $7,634 to spend on tuition, books, school supplies, tutoring, and more. Learn more about the program here.

We believe in the specific benefits of wearing uniforms. Uniforms foster academic focus and a feeling of dignity that unifies students and supports our school culture. Neatness in outer dress and appearance reflects inner focus and discipline. Uniform requirements vary by age.
