About

Highlands Latin Bentonville is one of many Highlands Latin Cottage Schools spanning the continental United States. We exist to supplement the tremendous work of homeschooling parents and enhance the educational experience of homeschooling students by bringing the distinctive culture and academic curricula of Highlands Latin School to the Northwest Arkansas community.

Highlands Latin Bentonville meets each Monday throughout the standard academic year (Aug–May), and offers Latin, classical studies, literature, and composition for students in grades 3–12. The composition course includes an English grammar component as well. Group instruction is provided in the classroom on Mondays with parents providing individual, focused direction the remainder of week. Class size is kept to a minimum to increase participation and ensure that each student enjoys the benefit afforded by a high level of personalized attention.

The HLS distinctives are best encapsulated in three words—classical, Christianand traditional. Our approach to education centers on the learning of classical languages and texts, anchors itself to the essentials of the Christian faith, and maintains the teacher-guided classroom (rather than child-led).

At Highlands Latin Bentonville, we proudly utilize the award-winning curricula developed by Memoria Press. Stamped on all of their books is the motto “Docere, Delectare, Movere”—in English, “to teach, to delight, to move.” It is their ambition as well as ours to make education not only the provision of instruction, but also a delight and a mobilizing force to those instructed. HLS Bentonville aims to provide inspired instruction and so to engender a love for the good, the true, and the beautiful in each and every student.
